Last week in May

Monday was definitely rough around here! Lucas began throwing up after breakfast and had major diarrhea the rest of the day! Of course I was terrified that it was an allergic reaction to the egg that he tried for the first time this morning. However, after several calls to Children's Healthcare, it was ruled just a stomach problem. So his first Memorial Day was definitely not how we planned it. We did manage to go down to my parent's house for a cookout for dinner. We were excited that Shawn and Dylan got to join us too!

Tuesday, Lucas unfortunately had to go to the pediatrician for major stomach problems. The pediatrician says it is probably the Rotavirus, which is the leading cause for babies to land in the ER. It is frustrating because he got his vaccine for this, but we found out later that the vaccine only works for a certain percentage of the time. Ugh! Well after the doctor visit, she told us that Lucas could not continue with his swim lessons. So now it is up to us to teach him!

After the doctor, we got to spend the afternoon with GiGi! She came to visit us and we went to O'Charley's for lunch and then shopping at TJ Maxx/Homegoods. Lucas was such a great little boy while we were out. We only had one minor slip-up when he blew out his diaper at Homegoods!

That night we discovered that Lucas had his third tooth on the bottom come through. Yep, it was a rough night!

Wednesday, my little man turned 9 months old!!!! I just cannot believe it. He is such a sweet little boy and we couldn't be happier!

Since Lucas has a stomach problem, we could not host the Mom's group at our house. I just did not want anyone to have to go through what poor Lucas did!

Then on Thursday, we felt like the world ended for us! Ben woke up at 5:00 throwing up. I started feeling funny, but thought I was ok after some medicine. Ben slept all morning while I took care of Lucas. Then by 1:00, it hit me!!! We had to call in reinforcements by 3:00, so MiMi came to the rescue!! Both Ben and I were so dehydrated that we ended up going to the ER. They hooked us both up on an IV of fluids and gave me some anti-nausea medicine and a pain killer. Our families are so wonderful that almost everyone made it there to visit us and help out. Ben left first with Lucas and his mom and dad, while my mom and brother stayed with me and then brought me home. It was all such a nightmare, but we are grateful for our families. My mom and brother stayed late to help give Lucas a bath and then left right before we put him to bed.
Thank you EVERYONE!!

Friday night, since we just didn't feel up to traveling to GiGi's, my family surprised us and brought dinner to us! We were very thankful, because the last thing we wanted to do after a day of cleaning up the house, was to go out. Dinner was great and we thank you all!

I swear it feels like it just never ends sometimes! You think everything is great and then BAM, something else comes at you! Hopefully June will be a better month!

P.S.-We were definitely not up to taking many pictures around here which explains why there are so few!

Some 9 month stats:
  • Lucas LOVES to play peek-a-boo! He covers his head with something and then pulls it down real fast while you say "Peek-a-boo, Peek-a-boo!"
  • He really liked the water, but hasn't been back in a while because of his tummy troubles.
  • He loves to eat fresh fruit. Especially plums and pears
  • Lucas really enjoys reading books with anyone and likes to turn the pages himself.
  • He gives kisses and hugs on demand
  • Lucas loves to "talk". We have no idea what he is saying, but he can go on and on and on!
  • His favorite toy is what we call his "Push-Push." He pushes it all around the house from the moment he wakes up in the morning.
  • He really is not interested in watching t.v., but he does enjoy the theme songs from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Special Agent Oso.
  • Lucas is completely happy if you give him a ball of any size and let him either throw it back and forth to you or let him play "baby soccer."
